Finding Copper And Aluminium Guttering On The Internet

There are many options to choose from when considering new gutters.

Choose something that suits your climate, the longer it lasts, the less it costs in the long run.

Copper and aluminium are preferred gutter materials, although copper is a more expensive, high-end gutter material. Experts see the non-rust features of aluminium gutters as a benefit. Copper gutters are more expensive than their aluminium counter-parts but they are very sturdy and long lasting.

Plastics such as PVC are not good choices for guttering as they cannot carry heavy loads of snow or rain water and they can become brittle with age. And lets just say it is not a very green choice of guttering. According to the US government, PVC plastic is one of the most hazardous consumer products ever created being dangerous to human health and the environment throughout its entire life cycle. Cancer causing chemicals are released in the production and burning of PVC as well as by-products that can damage the immune and reproductive systems.

Replacing your gutters gives you the chance to treat your roof’s water differently. Consider linking your gutters to a rooftop catchment system that captures rainwater in a cistern or rain barrels and can then be used to water non-edible plantings.

Keeping gutters clear will prevent damage to your home through flooding and overspill and proper maintenance will reduce the need for replacements.
