Savings can be made to the maintenance costs of door edges, faces and frames using door protection systems. Ideal for maintaining the pristine appearance of brand new doors or to recondition older, worn doors.
High traffic areas of building (whether vehicles or people) will soon start to age if they are not protected by heavy duty door protection systems. A wide range of designs can be created by cutting and shaping door panels to match the size and aesthetics of your building.
Door Protection Panels & Plates
Normally made from steel, aluminium or strong plastic, door protection panels provide vital protection to the most vulnerable areas of doors. They are normally attached to the door at chest height on the opening edge and along the bottom of the door, as these areas are prone to receiving a lot of wear and tear. Panels can be custom made to meet particular buildings requirements and can be shaped to create a specific design.
Door Edge Protectors
Door Edge Protectors can give existing damaged doors a new lease of life. All thicknesses of doors can be accommodated so this type of protection is ideal for both old and new doors. Custom forming of profiles make it possible to fit to all types of doors such as swing, radius and square doors.
One hour and half hour fire ratings can be achieved with the addition of smoke/fire seals to fire doors.
Door Frame & Architrave Protectors
As door frames loose their shape over time, Door Frame & Architrave Protectors generally need to be made to measure. Often made from PVCu.they have no sharp edges and can help with shock absorption.
Note: Savings can often be made by utilizing the waste material from the manufacturing process to make kick and push panels for a door.
Accessibility
Partially sighted people are assisted by D- Plates. Door handles should be easily recognised and the fitting of these coloured plates can eliminate the need for replacement handles.
Colours and Finishes
Most stockists will provide colour swatches or samples of the material they intend to use. The effects of abrasion can be concealed by using heavily textured surfaces such as Hessian. The edges of panels should be chamfered to leave a smooth, safe edge.
Installation
Double sided sticky tape is used to fix panels, D plates and door edge protectors so only basic DIY skills are needed. More advanced skills are needed for Door Frame & Architrave systems.
